A superb mid sized Crape Myrtle selection with nice dark purple blooms
in early to late summer. Foliage is good dark green throughout the season,
turning bright red in the fall. Good sturdy growth habit - slightly more
globose in habit than many other Crapes. Has good resistance to powdery
mildew. Good growth rate, and excellent bloom production. This Crape Myrtle
is very easy to grow. Catawba blooms best when planted in full sun, however
will tolerate some shade, but may not bloom as profusely. Drought tolerant,
deer and disease resistant combined with the ability to grow in most any
soil type.
