The “Redhaven” peach (Prunus persica “Redhaven”)
is known for its attractive pink spring flowers,
sweet yellow fruit and bright gold fall foliage.
“Redhaven” peaches grow in U.S. Department of
Agriculture plant hardiness zones 5 through 9 and
should be planted in full sun and well-drained soil
, spaced 18 to 20 feet apart. “Redhaven” produces
large, yellow freestone peaches that are ready for
harvest midseason. Standard “Redhaven” trees can
reach 25 feet in height but are typically pruned to
a height of 15 feet. The dwarf version of the tree,
the “Compact Redhaven,” reaches only about 6 feet,
and these trees should be planted 6 feet apart.
“Redhaven’ peach trees require 800 to 900 chill hours.
They are resistant to bacterial leaf spot as well as
peach leaf curl and can be expected to live more than
40 years with proper care.
