Newport’ is a compact cultivar of the Japanese snowball
or sterile species form. It is a dense, upright, multi-stemmed, deciduous
shrub that typically matures to 4’ tall and as wide. Non-fragrant,
creamy white sterile flowers in dense globular inflorescences (to 3”
across) bloom along the branches in spring (May).No fruit is produced.
Ovate, dark green leaves (to 3” long). Attractive red to burgundy
fall color. Attracts buterflies
